    A delightfully pair of AAA quality Garnet semi-precious gemstone earrings with Rose Gold accents. These earrings feature two gorgeously crafted 5mm x 3mm pear drop red Garnet gemstones, enclosed within an elegant claw setting that surrounds the gemstones.

     

    On our visit to Antelope Canyon we were taken in open back four wheel drive vehicles  through the desert to the opening of Upper Antelope Canyon. Carved out by raging water , once inside we were amazed at the carved rocks, beams of light and colours from gold, red, orange and purple that changed with the light, an amazing inspiration for these earrings.

     

    One of the birthstones for January, garnet is a wonderfully diverse gemstone which has been used for decorative purposes as far back as the Bronze Age thanks to its captivating beauty; garnet jewellery has been found amongst the relics of ancient Greece and Egypt. Historically, it has also been associated with friendship and faithfulness through links to numerous myths and legends.

    This contemporary jewellery is inspired by the stunning long sandy Fort Myers Beach on Estero Island, off the southwest Florida coast facing the Gulf of Mexico.

     

    A March birthstone, aquamarine is named after the calming blue-green hues of the ocean waters with which it shares its gorgeous colouring. Due to this tie with the seas, it has been thought by many to offer mystical protection to sailors and fishermen. Some ancient folklore strengthens this maritime association even further, going as far as to describe the gemstone as the treasure of mermaids!

     

    An October birthstone which serves as the national stone of Australia, Australian opal is a serene gemstone with lively symbolic and mythological associations; according to Aboriginal Australian legend, a colossal opal reigns as a god over the cosmos and all within.     This beautiful jewellery is inspired by my photograph of the beautiful Menorca is one of Spain’s Balearic islands in the Mediterranean Sea. Traditionally known for its endless beaches, from miles-long sandy crescents to rocky, turquoise-watered bays called “calas.” Pine trees fringe the coast. 

     

    One of November’s birthstones, topaz is thought to be named after the Sanskrit tapas, meaning ‘fire’. Beliefs around topaz vary – Hindu mythology points to its functions as a lengthener of life and provider of wisdom and is often viewed as a sacred stone.

     

    A birthstone for the month of April first developed in the USSR in the 1970s, cubic zirconia is created from base substances found in extraterrestrial rock, both from asteroids and the moon. Some claim that it aids in controlling one’s ego and selfishness, as well as in gaining a strong mental and spiritual clarity.

    This natural gemstone jewellery is inspired by the Redwood National and State Parks; famous for their ancient trees the parks are also a string of protected rivers, beaches and grasslands along Northern California’s coast.

     

    Acting as a birthstone for the month of August, peridot is a gemstone shrouded in mystery. Its name has no clear origin – some sources suggest it is a derivative of the Latin paederot, which refers to a variety of opal, whereas others claim that it comes from the Arabic faridat, meaning ‘gem’. Its recorded use dates back as far as 1500 BC, where its symbolic powers seemingly ranged from warding off nightmares and promoting bravery to subduing negative feelings of anger and guilt. 

     

    As with other opals, Ethiopian opal is a birthstone for October, associated with love and passion. They are also said to be a decidedly positive stone, brimming with positive energy and joyous emotion, whilst also invoking the calmness and restraint required to balance such ardour.

    Bali is an Indonesian island known for its dramatic landscapes; forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches, coral reefs and exotic plants. My photograph of one of these is the inspiration for these richly coloured earrings.

    This stunning jewellery is inspired b my photo of the Florida Everglades National Park;  a 1.5-million-acre wetlands preserve on the southern tip of America.This amazing landscape is a grassy, slow-moving river with coastal mangroves, sawgrass marshes and pine flatwoods that are home to hundreds of animal species.
