This jewellery is inspired by a little known national park on the Mexican Boarder. In the middle of no-where, but with the famous River Grande as its backdrop the Southern Ridge Trail take you high up through the peaks to get the most amazing views.

An October birthstone, opal is thought to be named simply after the Sanskrit upala, meaning ‘precious stone’ – its historical and symbolic associations, however, are far more complex. Dubbed the ‘Patron of Thieves’, this gemstone was once believed to enable the wearer to turn invisible, and medieval women prized them as they were said to prevent fair hair from losing its lustre. Now, though, the opal is more commonly seen more broadly as a stone of protection and love.

Bordering the more famous Yellowstone, this lesser-known reserve boasts what is, in my opinion, one of the most gorgeously dramatic, snow-capped landscapes ever seen.
