    Blue Topaz, Peridot & Cubic Zirconia Sterling Silver Earrings

    Heart shaped faceted cut 5mm x 5mm Blue Topaz together with two faceted cut 4mm x 2mm marquise, 7mm x 5mm oval Peridot semi-precious gemstones and two 2mm x 2mm round Cubic Zirconia gemstones.

     

    This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Craig Aderyn Pass, an untouched channel through a range of sloping mountains in North-West Wales’ scenic heartland, Gwynedd. Here, a solitary road snakes through a valley of verdant trees and expansive fields, enveloped on either side by the steep inclines of ancient, ice-carved mountains.

     

    An August birthstone, peridot has been popular since 1500 BCE, when its symbolic powers ranged from dissuading nightmares and promoting bravery to subduing harmful feelings of anger and guilt.

    One of November’s birthstones, topaz is thought to be named after the Sanskrit tapas, meaning ‘fire’. Hindu literature points to its functions as a lengthener of life and provider of wisdom.
