Apatite Opal Necklace, Ethiopian Opal, Sky Blue Topaz, Semi Precious Gemstones, Sterling Silver
Two incredible earth-mined 5mm x 3mm oval-shaped Ethiopian Opal semi-precious gemstones, complimented by three stunning faceted cut sparkling 2mm x 2mm round-shaped Apatite gemstones & one 7mm x 7mm round-shaped Sky Blue Topaz semi-precious gemstone. These gemstones are handset in sterling silver in a prong setting!
This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Rhaeadr y Cwm, where pure white water thunderously crashes down a self-carved path through jagged rocks and green-flecked cliffs.
As with other opals, Ethiopian opal is a birthstone for October, said to brim with joyously positive emotion whilst also invoking the calmness and restraint required to balance such ardour.
One of November’s birthstones, topaz is thought to be named after the Sanskrit tapas, meaning ‘fire’. Hindu literature points to its functions as a lengthener of life and provider of wisdom.
Apatite, an arresting gemstone which naturally occurs in a broad array of hues, is named after the Greek apate (‘deceit’) as its varied colours have fooled many into mistaking it for other minerals.
Attached to an 18-inch chain, this dazzling gemstone pendant will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of its inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented piece which makes the perfect gift.
