This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of the unforgettable mountains of Bali, domineering kings of the skyline. Reaching into the perfect clouds above, their fertile, verdant slopes and iconic, conical silhouettes remind all below of the Indonesian island’s dramatic volcanic heritage. Indeed, many of its staggeringly impressive volcanoes are still active today.
A birthstone for the month of April first developed in the USSR in the 1970s, cubic zirconia is created from base substances found in extraterrestrial rock from both asteroids and the moon.
One of November’s birthstones, topaz is thought to be named after the Sanskrit tapas, meaning ‘fire’. Hindu literature points to its functions as a lengthener of life and provider of wisdom.
A December birthstone, tanzanite was first discovered in 1967 in Tanzania, borrowing its name from its origin country. It is often worn by Tanzanian mothers to grant their new-borns happy lives.
Attached to an 18-inch chain, this dazzling gemstone pendant will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of its inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented piece which makes the perfect gift.
