Amazing natural 8mm x 6mm oval-shaped pink Morganite, complimented by two stunning faceted cut sparkling 5mm x 3mm marquise-shaped Rhodolite Pink Garnet & 2mm x 2mm round-shaped Pink Tourmaline semi-precious gemstones. These gemstones are handset in sterling silver in a prong setting!
This handmade jewellery is inspired by the pink tones at play in my photograph of Offa’s Dyke, an astonishing earthwork that runs along the Welsh border. It is named after Offa, an 8th-century Anglo-Saxon king who ordered its construction in an attempt to fortify his kingdom of Mercia against the neighbouring forces of Wales.
One of the birthstones for January, garnet – historically tied to friendship and faithfulness – has long been used for decoration, having been found amongst the relics of ancient Greece and Egypt.
An October birthstone, tourmaline was reported by one 18th-century Dutch scientist to induce sleep, whilst ancient traditions from Africa and India believe it to strengthen moral judgement.
Named after renowned American financier J.P. Morgan, morganite bears an inherent association with wealth and prosperity. Some also claim that it aids in fostering unconditional love.
These handmade gemstone earrings are 32mm long (~1 1/4 Inches) and come in a unique gift box with the image of their inspiration inside the lid of the box and in an organza gift bag, beautifully presented.
