Ruby & Rose Quartz with Cubic Zirconia Sterling Silver Earrings

A delightful pair of gemstone earrings featuring remarkable 7mm x 5mm ovals of serene, semi-precious rose quartz, delicately complemented by 5mm x 3mm inverted pear-drops of natural red ruby and several stunningly sparkling 1mm x 1mm faceted rounds of lab-grown cubic zirconia. Each of these impressive gemstones is delicately hand-set in a stylish sterling silver claw setting.

This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Offa’s Dyke, an astonishing earthwork that runs along the Welsh border. It is named after Offa, an 8th-century Anglo-Saxon king who ordered its construction in an attempt to fortify his kingdom of Mercia against the neighbouring forces of Wales.

A January birthstone, rose quartz features in Greek myth as the blood of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty – as such, this serene stone is often associated with passion and romance.

A birthstone for the month of April first developed in the USSR in the 1970s, cubic zirconia is created from base substances found in extraterrestrial rock from both asteroids and the moon.

Ruby is a July birthstone, long symbolic of power and success; for 8th-century Arabic mystics, dreams of rubies foretold good fortune, whilst in ancient Burma they stood for life itself.

35mm long (~1¼ inches), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.

Thanks for looking. Commissions welcome.
