Ethiopian Opal with Pink & Green & Champagne Tourmaline Sterling Silver Earrings
A stunning pair of gemstone earrings bursting with both colour and character. Here, wonderful 8mm x 4mm marquises of earth-mined Ethiopian opal are showcased alongside delightful 3mm x 3mm rounds of pink tourmaline, 2mm x 2mm rounds and two 4mm x 3mm ovals of serene green tourmaline, and 4mm x 3mm ovals of eye-catching champagne tourmaline. Each of the gemstones amongst this impressive array is elegantly hand-set in a stylish sterling silver claw setting.
This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Moel Mordydd, where the subdued shades of purple heather provide a gorgeous contrast to the vibrant green hills and deep blue sky.
Like other opals, Ethiopian opal is a birthstone for October, said to brim with joyously positive emotion whilst also invoking the calmness and restraint required to balance such ardour.
An October birthstone, tourmaline was reported by one 18th-century Dutch scientist to induce sleep, whilst ancient traditions from Africa and India believe it to strengthen moral judgement.
42mm long (~1½ inch), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.
