This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Lake Crafnant, an expansive reservoir graced with clear blue waters and ringed by the emerald green of Gwydir forest. At its head stands the remarkable ridge of Cefn Cyfarwydd, the edge of a breathtaking mountain range.
A birthstone for the month of April first developed in the USSR in the 1970s, cubic zirconia is created from base substances found in extraterrestrial rock from both asteroids and the moon.
As with other opals, Ethiopian opal is a birthstone for October, said to brim with joyously positive emotion whilst also invoking the calmness and restraint required to balance such ardour.
One of the birthstones for September, sapphire’s symbolism is as diverse as its hues, having been associated with youth and old age, power and kindness, and wealth alongside freedom from envy.
