Blue Topaz & Cubic Zirconia Sterling Silver Stud Drop Earrings
A sensational pair of gemstone earrings showcasing stunningly sparkling 11mm x 9mm cushion-cut gemstones of faceted blue topaz alongside 4mm x 4mm rounds of glimmering cubic zirconia. Each of these impressive gemstones is elegantly hand-set in a stylish sterling silver claw or bezel setting.
This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Snowdonia’s staggering Lake Cowlyd. Set amongst the Carneddau range of mountains, these deep and enchanting waters are accessible only via a challenging uphill path which demands determination in those that follow it. The required effort pays off, however, revealing a decidedly dramatic, desolate landscape bare of trees and rich in rough-hewn rock.
One of November’s birthstones, topaz is thought to be named after the Sanskrit tapas, meaning ‘fire’. Hindu literature points to its functions as a lengthener of life and provider of wisdom.
A birthstone for the month of April first developed in the USSR in the 1970s, cubic zirconia is created from base substances found in extraterrestrial rock from both asteroids and the moon.
18mm long (~½ inch), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.
