Rare Tanzanite and Larimar Sterling Silver Earrings
These delightful gemstone earrings showcase remarkable 4mm x 4mm rounds of rare blue tanzanite, delicately complemented by wonderful 10mm x 10mm rounds of semi-precious soft aqua larimar. Each of these impressive gemstones is elegantly hand-set in stylish sterling silver.
This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Cronfa Alwen, a wonderful 5km-long reservoir near Pentre-Llyn-Cymmer, North Wales. A regular destination for us, this stunningly deep blue lake and its surrounding forests and moorland are perfect for walking our excitable young Labrador.
A December birthstone, tanzanite was first discovered in 1967 in Tanzania, borrowing its name from its origin country. It is often worn by Tanzanian mothers to grant their new-borns happy lives.
Named after the Spanish for ‘sea’, mar, Larimar features in the folklore of natives of the Dominican Republic, who maintain that each piece is home to a powerfully calming water goddess.
38mm long (~1½ inch), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.
