Chrome Diopside with Ethiopian Opal & Cubic Zirconia Sterling Silver Earrings

£89.50

A delightful pair of gemstone earrings featuring sensational 8mm x 6mm ovals of earth-mined Ethiopian opal, perfectly complemented by stunningly sparkling 6mm x 4mm faceted ovals of chrome diopside and several 1mm x 1mm rounds of lab-grown cubic zirconia. Each of these impressive gemstones is elegantly hand-set in a stylish sterling silver claw setting.

This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Dolbadarn Castle. Constructed during the reign of mighty medieval king Llywelyn the Great, its time-worn walls enclose a circular inner tower which stands, a lonely sentinel, over the enchanting, storied landscape of Snowdonia.

Like other opals, Ethiopian opal is a birthstone for October, said to brim with joyously positive emotion whilst also invoking the calmness and restraint required to balance such ardour.

A birthstone for the month of April first developed in the USSR in the 1970s, cubic zirconia is created from base substances found in extraterrestrial rock from both asteroids and the moon.

Discovered fairly recently, chrome diopside is a rich green gemstone which, perhaps due to its verdant colouring, is believed by some to foster a connection with the natural world.

35mm long (~1¼ inches), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.

Thanks for looking. Commissions welcome.
