Ethiopian Opal with Orange Sapphire & Cubic Zirconia Sterling Silver Earrings
These striking earrings showcase stunning 6mm x 4mm ovals and 4mm x 4mm rounds of natural faceted-cut Ethiopian Opal complemented by stunningly sparkling 1mm x 1mm cubic zirconia and 3mm x 3mm natural orange Songea sapphire. Each of these impressive gemstones is elegantly hand-set in stylish sterling silver.
Like other opals, Ethiopian opal is a birthstone for October, said to brim with joyously positive emotion whilst also invoking the calmness and restraint required to balance such ardour.
A birthstone for the month of April first developed in the USSR in the 1970s, cubic zirconia is created from base substances found in extraterrestrial rock from both asteroids and the moon.
One of the birthstones for September, sapphire’s symbolism is as diverse as its hues, having been associated with youth and old age, power and kindness, and wealth alongside freedom from envy.
This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Arezzo, Italy. A collage of architectural masterpieces, this gorgeous city – nestled amongst the vivid greenery of its self-named Tuscan province – hosts not just the rocky remains of an ancient Roman amphitheatre, the late medieval Basilica of San Francesco, and the stunning Piazza Grande, but also an enchanting array of picturesque terraces characterised by the colourful charm of Renaissance design.
28mm long (~1 inch), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.
