Inspired by the Tuscan Hills

Green Amethyst, Tourmaline, Topaz, Gemstone, Sterling Silver Earrings

These stunning earrings showcase 12mm x 8mm faceted gemstones of natural green amethyst alongside 3mm x 3mm green tourmaline and 6mm x 6mm faceted bi-colour topaz which glimmer in hues of terracotta and rose. Each of these magnificent gemstones is elegantly hand-set in stylish sterling silver with captivating rose gold accents.

A February birthstone, amethyst has traditionally symbolised sobriety – its name derives from the Greek ametusthos, “not intoxicated”. More recently, it has also been tied to deep emotional bonds.

An October birthstone, tourmaline was reported by one 18th-century Dutch scientist to induce sleep, whilst ancient traditions from Africa and India believe it to strengthen moral judgement.

One of November’s birthstones, topaz is thought to be named after the Sanskrit tapas, meaning ‘fire’. Hindu literature points to its functions as a lengthener of life and provider of wisdom.

This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Monticchiello, an ancient village in the Tuscan heartland of the Val d’Orcia. Here, the sun-kissed remains of historic forts watch over quaint Renaissance streets and squares amidst a picturesque landscape of verdant grassland dotted with deep green cypress.

45mm long (~1 3/4 inches), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.

Thanks for looking. Commissions welcome.
