Inspired by the Tuscan Hills

Ethiopian Opal, Tanzanite Gemstone, Sterling Silver Necklace

This enchanting necklace wows with a wonderfully colourful 11mm x 7mm oval faceted earth-mined Ethiopian Opal gemstone complemented by five rich blue 3mm round gemstones of natural rare Tanzanite hand-set in sterling silver.

A December birthstone, tanzanite was first discovered in 1967 in Tanzania, borrowing its name from its origin country. It is often worn by Tanzanian mothers to grant their new-borns happy lives.

As with other opals, Ethiopian opal is a birthstone for October, said to brim with joyously positive emotion whilst also invoking the calmness and restraint required to balance such ardour.

This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of the stunning Capella Madonna di Vitaleta, a lonely chapel sitting in solitude amongst the verdant hills of Tuscany’s Val d’Orcia. A picturesque World Heritage Site framed by the columnar spires of cypress trees and set against the backdrop of the region’s striking mountains, this secluded chapel dates back to the Renaissance era.

Attached to an 18-inch chain, this dazzling gemstone pendant will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of its inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented piece which makes the perfect gift.

Thanks for looking. Commissions welcome.
