This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of the landscape surrounding Llan Ffestiniog in North Wales, where the dramatic silhouettes of the Moelwynion mountains dominate the skyline over the grass-covered foothills below.
One of November’s birthstones, topaz is thought to be named after the Sanskrit tapas, meaning ‘fire’. Hindu literature points to its functions as a lengthener of life and provider of wisdom.
The mesmeric product of a 15-million-year-old meteorite impact, moldavite was used for decoration and tool-making in ancient times before becoming a popular mark of royalty in medieval Europe.
