    This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of the historic Llyn Celyn, which, despite its peaceful appearance, bears a controversial history. A man-made reservoir, the creation of this lake involved the submersion of the village of Tryweryn, some of which is still visible today during rare droughts. On most days I visit, the lake’s serene, mid-blue waters speak little of its turbulent past.

    Blue John also known as the ‘Derbyshire Spar’ is a rare purple, blue pattern form of fluorite only found in Castleton in the Peak District, UK. It is said to have been discovered by Romans over 2000 years also and has been prized ever since.
