This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of a sunset over the stunning Yellowstone National Park, a 3500-square-mile swathe of wilderness which yawns across the US states of Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. Bathed in the rich hues of the sleepy evening sun, the untamed landscapes of this natural utopia take on the character of a piece of fine art, its expansive lakes and dense forests lit by blushing pinks, fiery oranges, and subtle carmine.

One of the birthstones for January, garnet – historically tied to friendship and faithfulness – has long been used for decoration, having been found amongst the relics of ancient Greece and Egypt.

Kyanite’s name arises from the Greek kyanos, meaning ‘deep blue’. A stunning, serene gemstone, it is said to bridge the gap between the heart and the mind.

40mm long (~1 1/2 inches), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.

This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of the historic Llyn Celyn, which, despite its peaceful appearance, bears a controversial history. A man-made reservoir, the creation of this lake involved the submersion of the village of Tryweryn, some of which is still visible today during rare droughts. On most days I visit, the lake’s serene, mid-blue waters speak little of its turbulent past.
