  • Apatite and Cubic Zirconia Sterling Silver Earrings

Handset in sterling silver faceted cut 4mm x 3mm oval neon blue Apatite semi-precious natural gemstones, complimented by a stunning faceted cut 9mm x 7mm oval Cubic Zirconia.

This jewellery is inspired by my photography of the mist rising up the Clwyd Valley and through the trees creating this unusual atmospheric view.

Apatite, an eye-catching gemstone which naturally occurs in a broad array of colours, is named after the Greek apate – meaning ‘deceit’ – as its aforementioned colour variety has fooled many into mistaking it for other minerals. This wide range of colours lends apatite a similarly varied range of uses and associations, from elegant adornment to increased concentration.

A birthstone for the month of April first developed in the USSR in the 1970s, cubic zirconia is created from base substances found in extraterrestrial rock, both from asteroids and the moon. Some claim that it aids in controlling one’s ego and selfishness, as well as in gaining a strong mental and spiritual clarity.

40mm long (~1 1/2 inchs), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.

  • Australian Opal and Blue Topaz Sterling Silver Earrings

Wonderful colour 7mm x 7mm round natural Australian Opal Doublet semi-precious earth mined gemstones, complimented by stunning AAA quality faceted cut sparkling 5mm x 5mm cushion cut & 6mm x 4mm inverted pear drop Blue Topaz semi-precious gemstones. These gemstones are hand set in sterling silver in a bezel setting and a claw setting respectfully!

These earrings are inspired by my photo of Lake Celyn which has a calm appearance with a controversial history. A village in the deep valley of the Rive Trywern, at the foot of the Arenig Mountains was flooded to create a water supply for a major city. On occasions during rare droughts the top of the local chapel is revealed. On most days I visit the serene, calm and mid blue waters are the perfect landscape.

An October birthstone which serves as the national stone of Australia, Australian opal is a serene gemstone with lively symbolic and mythological associations; according to Aboriginal Australian legend, a colossal opal reigns as a god over the cosmos and all within. As with all opals, Australian opal is said to protect travellers and promote love and passion.

One of November’s birthstones, topaz is thought to be named after the Sanskrit tapas, meaning ‘fire’. Beliefs around topaz vary – Hindu mythology points to its functions as a lengthener of life and provider of wisdom, whilst some 13th-century mystics claimed that it could sharpen and even restore eyesight and cure mental illness. Because of this, it is often viewed as a sacred stone.

This bespoke jewellery is inspired by Dolbadarn Castle, which stands a lone sentry on a rocky crag, keeper of the ruggedly beautiful Llanberis Pass. Overlooking Llyn Padarn, this stronghold is situated between Caernarfon and Snowdonia, and is recognised as one of North Wales’ finest treasures.

Serving as a birthstone for the month of May, emerald has often been called the ‘Jewel of Kings’ due to its close ties with historical royalty – it was popularised by the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Cleopatra, and has remained in fashion since. Surpassing even royalty, emerald has been worshipped as a god by some cultures, namely those in South America prior to the Spanish conquest, who deified the stone for its immense, undeniable beauty.

This stunning jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Moel Famau, where blooms of beautifully pink and purple heather act as a rich and vibrant highlight to the subdued moorland hues en-route to an ancient local landmark.

As with other opals, Ethiopian opal is a birthstone for October, associated with love and passion. They are also said to be a decidedly positive stone, brimming with positive energy and joyous emotion, whilst also invoking the calmness and restraint required to balance such ardour.

One of the birthstones for January, garnet is a wonderfully diverse gemstone which has been used for decorative purposes as far back as the Bronze Age thanks to its captivating beauty; garnet jewellery has been found amongst the relics of ancient Greece and Egypt. Historically, it has also been associated with friendship and faithfulness through links to numerous myths and legends.

This handmade jewellery is inspired by California’s Redwood National Park. Home to the tallest trees on the planet, this verdant and fertile landscape also accommodates countless river-ways, meadows, and walking paths which criss-cross the landscape like contours on a map. On a sunny day, the various bodies of water become perfect mirrors for the blue skies above.

A March birthstone, aquamarine is named after the calming blue-green hues of the ocean waters with which it shares its gorgeous colouring. Due to this tie with the seas, it has been thought by many to offer mystical protection to sailors and fishermen. Some ancient folklore strengthens this maritime association even further, going as far as to describe the gemstone as the treasure of mermaids!

  • Peridot & Kyanite Sterling Silver Earrings

Faceted cut rare 8mm x 6mm oval blue Kyanite semi-precious gemstones, complimented by stunning 6mm x 4mm teardrop Peridot semi-precious gemstones. These gemstones are hand set in sterling silver in a claw setting.

This jewellery is inspired by my photography of the beautifully blue waters surrounded by green vegetation of the Everglades, a massive network of forests, prairies and wetlands – a ‘river of grass’ – that flows from near Kissimmee all the way down to Florida Bay.

Acting as a birthstone for the month of August, peridot is a gemstone shrouded in mystery. Its name has no clear origin – some sources suggest it is a derivative of the Latin paederot, which refers to a variety of opal, whereas others claim that it comes from the Arabic faridat, meaning ‘gem’. Its recorded use dates back as far as 1500 BC, where its symbolic powers seemingly ranged from warding off nightmares and promoting bravery to subduing negative feelings of anger and guilt.

Kyanite arises from the Greek kyanos, meaning ‘deep blue’ – a uniquely beautiful gemstone, it is – according to some – characterised by a highly positive energy which aids in healing and communicating one’s true feelings. Others also suggest that it bridges the gap between the heart and the mind.

42mm long (~1 1/2 inchs), these dazzling gemstone earrings will arrive packaged in a small gift box featuring the image of their inspiration on the inside of the lid. Combined with an organza bag, this results in a gorgeously-presented pair which makes the perfect gift.

This handmade jewellery is inspired by the vibrant shades of the flowers in Singapore’s world-renowned botanical garden. Graced with dazzling blooms of brilliant pink and red, these are truly a sight to behold.

A birthstone for July, ruby has stood as a symbol of power and success since antiquity; 8th-century Arabic mystics decreed that dreams of rubies foretold good fortune and great satisfaction in life. Thanks to their traditional blood-red hue, rubies have been tied to life and health throughout history – ancient Burmese warriors even believed that these gemstones rendered their wearers near-immortal.

As with other opals, Ethiopian opal is a birthstone for October, associated with love and passion. They are also said to be a decidedly positive stone, brimming with positive energy and joyous emotion, whilst also invoking the calmness and restraint required to balance such ardour.
