    Magnificent quality 7mm x 5mm oval-shaped natural Aquamarine semi-precious gemstones, complemented by two 2mm x 2mm round-shaped pink Rhodolite garnet semi-precious gemstones & 8mm x 4mm pear drop-shaped Australian Opal doublet gemstones. These gemstones are handset in sterling silver in a prong setting & bezel setting respectfully!
     
    This handmade jewellery is inspired by the pink tones at play in my photograph of Offa’s Dyke, an astonishing earthwork that runs along the Welsh border. It is named after Offa, an 8th-century Anglo-Saxon king who ordered its construction in an attempt to fortify his kingdom of Mercia against the neighbouring forces of Wales.
     
    One of the birthstones for January, garnet – historically tied to friendship and faithfulness – has long been used for decoration, having been found amongst the relics of ancient Greece and Egypt.
     
    A March birthstone, aquamarine is named after the serene ocean waters with which it shares its captivating hues. Due to this maritime association, some sailors wear it to bring good fortune.
     
    An October birthstone, Australian opal is a serene gemstone with lively mythological associations; according to Aboriginal Australian legend, a colossal opal reigns over the cosmos and all within.

    Wonderful colour 7mm x 7mm round natural Australian Opal Doublet semi-precious earth mined gemstones, complimented by stunning AAA quality faceted cut sparkling 5mm x 5mm cushion cut & 6mm x 4mm inverted pear drop Blue Topaz semi-precious gemstones. These gemstones are hand set in sterling silver in a bezel setting and a claw setting respectfully!

     

    These earrings are inspired by my photo of Lake Celyn which has a calm appearance with a controversial history. A village in the deep valley of the Rive Trywern, at the foot of the Arenig Mountains was flooded to create a water supply for a major city. On occasions during rare droughts the top of the local chapel is revealed. On most days I visit the serene, calm and mid blue waters are the perfect landscape.

As with all opals, Australian opal is said to protect travellers and promote love and passion.

     

    One of November’s birthstones, topaz is thought to be named after the Sanskrit tapas, meaning ‘fire’. Beliefs around topaz vary – Hindu mythology points to its functions as a lengthener of life and provider of wisdom, whilst some 13th-century mystics claimed that it could sharpen and even restore eyesight and cure mental illness. Because of this, it is often viewed as a sacred stone.
