    This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of an astonishing river feature known as a gooseneck, a deep and dramatic meander where a river valley curves around a monolithic outcrop of rock, assuming the stunning shape of a narrow horseshoe. Here, the winding channel of the San Juan river weaves its way through the sloping sedimentary cliffs of Utah, USA.
     
    An October birthstone, opal was once dubbed the ‘Patron of Thieves’, believed to render its wearer invisible. Now, though, the opal is more commonly seen as a stone of love and protection.

    This handmade jewellery is inspired by my photograph of Llyn Tryweryn, the source of the Tryweryn river which was infamously channelled into the Llyn Celyn reservoir in 1965, resulting in the small Welsh village of Capel Celyn being lost to the lake. Perhaps due to the sombre story behind these serene waters, the lake’s cool blues seem to convey a very solemn sort of beauty.
